General Chemical to Form Soda Ash JV

General Chemical Soda Ash Partners (GCSAP) and S&A Abahsain (Saudi Arabia) say they will form a joint venture to build a 1-million ton/year soda ash facility in Saudi Arabia. The jv expects to increase capacity at the facility in two stages, each with capacity of 500,000 m.t./year. The first 500,000 m.t./year will come online in 2010. The companies did not disclose the timing for the second stage.
