Fire at Mitsui Plant Kills One, Injures 21; Production Suspended (Update)

Mitsui Chemicals says that a fire broke out following an explosion at about 2.15 a.m. on April 22 at the company’s resorcinol plant in Mitsui’s ‘Iwakuni-Ohtake’ production complex at Waki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. An employee has been killed and 21 people, including 10 community residents, have been injured as a result of the incident, Mitsui says.
