FMCSA Issues Final HOS Rule

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA; Washington) has issued a final hours of service (HOS) rule that essentially restores its controversial 2005 HOS regulation that set the amount of time a driver can be on the road without taking a break. The rule, published November 19 in the Federal Register, allows commercial drivers to continue to operate vehicles for up to 11 hours within a 14-hour period, following at least 10 consecutive hours off duty.
