World News and Views :: Top of the News FMC to Close Phosphates Plant in Spain by Year-End10:41 AM MST | December 9, 2010 | Lindsey Bewley FMC subsidiary FMC Foret (Barcelona) says it will close its phosphates plant at Huelva, Spain by December 31 of this year due to “a Spanish judicial ruling that prohibits Foret from adding gypsum to storage stacks near the Huelva site after December 31.” The site is one of the larger phosphate plants in Europe, with the capacity to produce about 130,000 m.t./year of phosphoric acid; about 70,000 m.t./year of calcium phosphates; and about 210,000 m.t./year of sodium phosphates.
