World News and Views :: Top of the News FDA Review Finds BPA Safe to Use in Food Contact Materials10:42 AM MDT | August 18, 2008 | Kara Sissell The FDA says an “adequate margin of safety” exists for bisphenol a (BPA) at current levels of human exposure from food contact uses, according to a draft assessment released Friday. U.S. lawmakers earlier this year asked the FDA to explain its previous assessment of BPA’s safety, which some had criticized for being based solely on two studies that were paid for by the American Plastics Council, which is now part of ACC.
