World News and Views :: Top of the News FDA Recommends Testing of Pharmaceutical Ingredients for Melamine11:20 PM MDT | August 6, 2009 | Deepti Ramesh The U.S. FDA, in a guidance issued yesterday, says that certain pharmaceutical ingredients used in the manufacture or preparation of drug products should be tested for melamine. “Although the FDA has no reason to believe that the U.S. pharmaceutical supply is contaminated with melamine, recent events involving pet and livestock food products in the U.S., and milk products for infants in China, underscore the potential problem,” the agency says.
