World News and Views :: Top of the News Explosion may Halt Evonik's Sale of Ruetgers8:25 AM MST | February 28, 2008 | Alex Scott An explosion earlier this month at a coal tar chemicals facility at Castrop-Rauxel, Germany, owned by Rütgers, an Evonik subsidiary, could scupper an agreed sale of the subsidiary, sources say. Eight workers were understood to have been injured in the incident which also caused major plant damage, according to uncorroborated reports. Rütgers’s Castrop-Rauxel facility is the world’s largest coal tar refinery. Evonik agreed in December 2007 to sell its its coal tar chemicals subsidiary to private equity...
