Evonik Builds L-Lysine Capacity in Brazil

Evonik Industries says it plans to build a new facility for the biotechnology production of feed amino acid L-lysine in the growth market of South America. L-lysine is an amino acid for animal feed that Evonik markets under the brand name Biolys. Evonik says it is building a new Biolys plant at the production site of Cargill at Castro, in the state of Paraná, Brazil. The plant at Castro is expected to become operational by 2014. Evonik says it also plans to produce about 100,000 m.t./year of Biolys as part of the previously announced joint venture...
