World News and Views :: Top of the News European authorities seek more safety data on neonicotinoid pesticides9:16 AM MST | January 16, 2013 | Kara Sissell A recent evaluation by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA; Brussels) says it has found certain gaps in data related to the analysis of potential adverse effects of neonicotinoid pesticides on honeybee populations. The European Commission last April asked EFSA to investigate potential effects of the pesticides on honeybee colonies. EFSA was asked to study clothianidin, imidacloprid, and thiamethoxam and “provide conclusions as regards the risk of neonicotinoid active substances for bees, in particular with regard to the acute and chronic effects on...
