European Council agrees to allow member states to restrict or ban cultivation of GMOs

The European Council has reached agreement that provides for a two-step procedure enabling European member states to restrict or even ban the cultivation of authorized genetically-modified organisms (GMO) on their respective territories, the European Commission says.
