European Authorities Consider Rescinding Corn Hybrid Approvals

European Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas has indicated to agrochemical groups that he will recommend rescinding commercial cultivation approvals for two types of genetically modified (GM) Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) corn seeds. The ban would apply to Bt11, which is produced by Syngenta, and Bt1507, produced jointly by Dow Agrosciences and DuPont’s Pioneer Hi-Bred business.
