World News and Views :: Top of the News Equistar to Restart Olefins Unit9:10 AM MST | January 15, 2009 | Lindsey Bewley Equistar Chemicals says it will restart its 2.4 billion lbs/year olefins unit at La Porte, TX before the end of January. The unit was temporarily idled in October 2008 due to declining market and economic conditions, the company says. The plant has a nameplate capacity of 1.7 billion lbs/year of ethylene and 700 million lbs/year of propylene. Equistar Chemicals is an indirect subsidiary of LyondellBasell.
