Energy, Carbon Costs Will Undermine U.K. Chemical Industry

The U.K. government’s plans for a number of carbon emission taxes on industry, including a planned carbon price floor, if introduced, would have a serious impact on the competitiveness of the U.K. chemical industry, says Steve Elliott, CEO at the Chemical Industries Association (London). Elliott made the comments at a briefing to journalists in London yesterday. The difficulty is not with any one piece of legislation but the cumulative effect of all the planned and existing regulations, which have the potential to double electricity prices for the U.K...
