World News and Views :: Top of the News EU Parliament Agrees Legislation to Exclude Harmful Chemicals from Toys3:09 AM MST | December 22, 2008 | Alex Scott Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have voted to introduce tough chemical restrictions for toys in the European Union (EU) that go beyond the controls of the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (Reach) program. MEPs voted 481 in favor of adopting the regulation with 73 against and 40 abstentions. The agreement by the parliament must be approved by EU governments before it can enter into force. Manufacturers of toys will be given four years to remove the specified chemical substances from their products once the regulation comes...
