EU Chemicals Sector On Course for Emissions Trading Charge Exemption

A preliminary quantitative study by the European Commission has determined that the chemicals industry and several sub-sectors of the industry in the European Union (EU) should be made exempt from significant costs set to be imposed as part of the region’s emissions trading scheme (ETS) from 2013.   More than half of the 258 sectors assessed in the study are set to qualify for free emissions trading allowances.
