EPA and European Chemicals Agency Sign Statement of Intent to Cooperate (update with analysis)

U.S. government agencies, including the U.S. EPA have signed a statement of intent to cooperate with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA; Helsinki) on issues relating to chemical safety and regulation. ECHA is the body responsible for implementing the Regulation, Authorisation and Evaluation of Chemicals (Reach) program in the European Union (EU). Under the terms of the agreement, the organizations would share knowledge and exchange experiences and best practices on chemicals management in areas including scientific collaboration and information exchange.
