ECHA expects applications to authorize SVHCs will double in 2014

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA; Helsinki) says it expects, in 2014, to receive about twice the number of applications for authorization to use substances of very high concern (SVHC) as it received in 2013. ECHA received eight applications last year for authorization to use SVHCs, covering two different phthalates and 17 different specific uses. It expects applications this year to include chromium-containing substances and trichloroethylene.
