World News and Views :: Top of the News DuPont's Earnings Soar on Improved Volumes, Selling Prices9:01 AM MDT | July 27, 2010 | Kerri Walsh An improved economy and higher selling prices helped to lift DuPont’s second-quarter net income by 92%, to $1.1 billion ($1.17/share), excluding special item. Net income tripled to $1.2 billion including special items. Sales rose 26%, to $8.6 billion, and operating income jumped 52%, to $1.7 billion. Volumes jumped 21%, and selling prices increased by 5%, DuPont says. Raw material, energy, and transportation costs, however, rose 3% compared to the year-ago period.
