DuPont's Earnings Rise on Agchems and Emerging Markets

DuPont reported first-quarter net income up 19%, to $1.2 billion ($1.31/share), excluding $52 million in special items in the year-ago period. First Call's (Boston) consensus estimate was $1.26/share. Sales rose 9%, to $8.6 billion helped by higher local selling prices and favorable currency exchange rates.
