DuPont, Genencor Form JV to Produce Cellulosic Ethanol

DuPont and Genencor, a division of Danisco, have formed a 50-50 joint venture to commercialize low-cost technology for cellulosic ethanol. The companies say the jv, DuPont Danisco Cellulosic Ethanol, will initially invest $140 million over three years and build a pilot plant in the U.S., slated for startup in 2009. The companies say they expect the technology to be ready for commercial scale applications by 2012. DuPont Danisco Cellulosic Ethanol will combine DuPont’s pretreatment and ethanologen technologies with Genencor’s innovative enzyme...
