Form Chlor-Alkali JV8:26 AM MDT | July 16, 2010 | Deepti Ramesh and Lindsey Bewley Dow Chemical and Mitsui & Co. have formed a 50-50 joint venture to build a chlor-alkali facility at Freeport, TX. The jv will produce about 880,000 m.t./year of caustic soda and about 800,000 m.t./year of chlorine. Construction is expected to begin in the fourth quarter and expected online in mid- 2013, Dow says. The new jv takes the place of Dow’s Chlorine 7 project, which was announced in January 2008 as a Dow-only venture.
