Dow Licenses Bayer Polyol Technology

Dow Chemical says it has entered into an agreement to license Bayer's patented technology to manufacture polyether polyols. The agreement also gives Dow the right to use a continuous process to produce long-chain polyether polyols. Financial details were not disclosed. Dow says it is evaluating a world-scale production facility based on this technology for startup in 2010. Dubbed Impact, Bayer's technology involves polyoxyalkylation using a special double metal cyanide catalyst. This technology improves the consistency of polyether polyols and reduces waste...
