Dow India Cancels $100-Million R&D Center Project in Maharashtra

Dow India (Mumbai), a Dow Chemical subsidiary, says it has cancelled plans to go ahead with the previously announced $100-million research & development center the company was constructing at Chakan, in the state of Maharashtra, India, following protests over pollution concerns. Work at the proposed R&D center was halted since September 2008, following orders form the Maharashtra government to stop construction.
