World News and Views :: Top of the News Doha climate-change talks end with deals to extend Kyoto Protocol until 2020, negotiate new global climate accord by 20158:29 AM MST | December 10, 2012 | Ian Young This year's UN climate change summit closed in Doha on 8 December with an agreement among 38 industrialized countries to sign up to an extension of the Kyoto Protocol, still the only binding accord on reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The deal extends the life of the Kyoto accord from 1 January 2013 until 2020. The protocol had been due to expire at the end of this year.
