World News and Views :: Top of the News Daiichi Sankyo’s API Plant at Fukushima to Remain Offline Until September12:34 PM MDT | April 21, 2011 | Deepti Ramesh Pharmaceutical company Daiichi Sankyo (Tokyo) says its Onahama plant in Fukushima prefecture, which produces active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), including pravastatin and olmesartan, is expected to restart production in September 2011. The plant was partly damaged by the earthquake that struck Japan on March 11, and has been offline since then. “Work on the restoration of facilities and equipment used in the manufacture of these products is already underway, with September of this year as a goal for the start of production,” the company says.
