DSM To Close Ijmuiden Fertilizer Complex

DSM says it will close down its fertilizer complex at Ijmuiden, the Netherlands by January 1, 2010 to avoid ammonia transportation by rail. DSM ships ammonia from Geleen, DSM's main fertilizer complex, to Ijmuiden some 200 km away where it is used to make fertilizers. DSM makes nitric acid, calcium ammonium nitrate and ammonium sulfate at Ijmuiden. One of DSM's nitric acid plants, which is currently located at Ijmuiden, will be relocated to Geleen.
