DSM Reports Strong Start to 2008; Raises Earnings Estimates

DSM says 2008 is off to a good start because firm demand and pricing strength that began in most of the company’s markets in fourth-quarter 2007 have been sustained into 2008. “DSM’s strong market positions have enabled it to increase prices,” especially in the nutrition business, the company says. Strong business trends are also taking place in the performance materials, fiber intermediates, and agro. “The current year has started strongly with firm demand being seen across most of our markets,” says chairman Feike Sijbesma...
