World News and Views :: Top of the News DOE Details Plans for Restarting FutureGen9:53 AM MDT | June 15, 2009 | Kara Sissell U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu has officially revived the FutureGen Alliance, a public-private partnership project featuring a power plant with a process for converting coal into syngas. The power plant, to be built at Mattoon, IL, would be the first to produce electricity as well as generate hydrogen and enable CO2 separation for sequestration.
