DIC reports rise in profits

DIC (Tokyo) recorded a 4.9% increase in net profits for the fiscal year ended 31 March compared with the previous fiscal year, to ¥19.06 billion ($193 million). Full-year sales decreased, however, by 4.1%, to ¥703.7 billion, because of falling sales in Japan and the appreciation of the Japanese currency, particularly against the euro, DIC says. Operating profits increased 10.1%, to ¥38.5 billion, bolstered by sales-price revisions and rationalization measures, which countered the impact of lower sales, DIC says.
