Court Orders Monsanto to Compensate French Farmer for Personal Injury1:38 PM MST | February 13, 2012 | Kara Sissell A court in Lyons, France has found Monsanto guilty of causing the neurological problems of a farmer who inhaled the weed killer alachlor, sold under the brand name Lasso. The court has ordered an evaluation to calculate the compensation due the farmer. French courts do not permit punitive damages. Farmer Paul Francois says he suffered neurological damages in 2004 after inhaling the weed killer while cleaning his crop sprayer. He sued Monsanto, saying the company failed to include proper warnings on its product labels. A victory in a personal injury lawsuit...
