China Executes Two People for Poisoning Milk with Melamine

Chinese authorities yesterday executed two people for their involvement in the sale of infant milk powder intentionally tainted with melamine. The contamination, which occurred in 2008, killed at least six children and caused illness in another 300,000. A total of 21 executives from Sanlu Group (Shijiazhuang, China), a dairy company, were sentenced in January for their involvement in lacing milk powder with melamine to make it appear in tests that the milk contained high levels of protein.
