China Challenges U.S. Countervailing Duties on Chemicals, Solar Cells

China says it has filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO; Geneva) challenging U.S. countervailing duties on products including chemicals, paper, solar cells, and steel. Countervailing duties are trade duties administered by WTO as a way to offset the impact that one country’s government subsidies would have on the competitiveness of other nations’ products.
