World News and Views :: Top of the News Chemtura’s Second-Quarter Loss Narrows, but Sales Dip1:45 PM MDT | August 11, 2009 | Deepti Ramesh Chemtura has recorded a net loss of $118 million for the second quarter of 2009, compared with a net loss of $273 million in the year-ago period. The 2009 quarter included impairment charges totaling $97 million, compared with a $320-million in the 2008 quarter. Sales decreased by 33%, to $687 million, on lower sales volumes and unfavorable foreign currency exchange rates, partially offset by higher selling prices.
