Celanese to Invest $600 Million to Build Ethanol Plants at Two Sites in China

Celanese says its Celanese Far East (Hong Kong) subsidiary has signed letters of intent to construct and operate industrial ethanol production facilities in the Nanjing Chemical Industrial Park at Nanjing, China, and in the Gaolan Port Economic Zone at Zhuhai, China. Celanese announced last November that it plans to build one or two industrial ethanol complexes in China, and a smaller unit at its Clear Lake, TX site. The plants at Nanjing and Zhuhai will each have an initial capacity of 400,000 m.t./year and will involve an investment of $300 million each...
