Cefic: EU chemical sector faces 'fragile recovery'

The chemical sector in the European Union remains "fragile" despite output growth of 2.8% in November 2013, Cefic says. Output fell 0.2% for January–November 2013 versus the corresponding period in 2012 and was 6.6% lower than full-year peak reached in 2007, before the onset of the financial crisis, according to Cefic. Petrochemical output fell by 7.2% in November 2013 compared with the year-ago period, although this fall was partially offset by strong growth of 8.2% in polymers.
