World News and Views :: Top of the News Cefic Confirms 'Significant Drop' in EU Chemicals Output at End of 20116:27 AM MST | February 24, 2012 | Ian Young Output of chemicals grew 1.1% in the European Union (EU) in 2011 compared with 2010, Cefic says. The rate is lower than Cefic's most recent projection of 2% for 2011 EU chemical production growth, made last December. Full-year chemicals output missed estimates because of a 1.8% monthly decrease in December 2011, compared with December 2010, "a significant drop in EU chemicals industry production after an impressive performance by the sector during the first quarter of 2011," Cefic says.
