Cargill's Earnings Rise on Strong Ag and Energy Markets

Cargill reported net income for its second fiscal quarter, ended November 30, 2007, of $954 million, up 44% over the year-ago period. The company did not disclose sales figures. Four of Cargill’s five business segments posted increased earnings for the quarter, with the largest contribution from its ag processing unit, which sources, processes, and distributes agricultural commodities and provides supply chain and risk management services to customers globally.
