California’s piecemeal approach to restricting hazardous substances in certain consumer products would no longer be necessary under a broader approach for governing state action on chemicals of concern. That approach includes possible passage this week of a bill sponsored by Assemblyman Mike Feuer (D., Los Angeles) that would authorize the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (CDTSC; Sacramento) to evaluate and regulate consumer products that contain chemicals of concern.
