Cabot Earnings Surge on Improved Volumes, Sale of Supermetals Unit

Cabot reported second quarter 2012 net income of $240 million, up 78% from the year-ago quarter, on stronger volumes, a favorable product mix and strong earnings from its specialty fluids segment. Sales increased 12% year-on-year, to $844 million.
