Brazil's polymer imports increase by 21% in first five months of 2013

Brazil's polymer imports increased by about 21% in the first five months of the year, compared with the same period in 2012, according to figures released yesterday by the Ministry of Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade (Brasilia). Brazil imported about 734,800 m.t. of thermoplastic resins, between January and May 2013, worth about $933.7 million. Imported volumes were 163,400 m.t. in May alone, 34% higher than in May last year.
