BorsodChem's Isocyanate Expansions Drive Chinese Parent's Global Ambitions

BorsodChem (Kazincbarcika, Hungary) will start work on July 22 on a project to expand methylene di-para-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) capacity at Kazincbarcika by 90,000 m.t./year, to 240,000 m.t./year. BorsodChem says it is the only European manufacturer that will increase MDI capacity this year and that the project will make the company's parent, Wanhua Industrial Group (Yantai, China) the third-biggest producer of MDI worldwide behind Bayer MaterialScience and BASF. Yantai Wanhua Polyurethanes, the Chinese subsidiary of Wanhua, has 800,000 m.t./year of MDI...
