World News and Views :: Top of the News Borealis Offers to Buy Fertilizer and Intermediates Producer PEC-Rhin8:12 AM MST | November 25, 2011 | Natasha Alperowicz Borealis announced today that it has made an offer to GPN, a subsidiary of Total Petrochemicals, to buy PEC-Rhin (Ottmarsheim, France). PEC-Rhin, equally owned by GPN and BASF, produces nitrogen fertilizers, ammonia and nitric acid at its Ottmarsheim site. It employs 180 people. Borealis is a major producer of polyolefins and base chemicals, and it is a major player in fertilizers in Central Europe.
