Bayer's Quarterly Results Jump on Higher Volumes, Selling Prices

Bayer is off to a good start this year, with strong first-quarter earnings because of improved demand and higher selling prices compared to the year-ago period. Bayer has raised its full-year 2011 sales and earnings outlook because of the strong earnings results, especially from the CropScience division.  Bayer’s total net income rose 8%, to €684 million ($1 billion), on sales up 13%, to €9.4 billion.
