Bayer to Idle MDI Plant in Germany Due to Poor Demand

Bayer Material Science (BMS) says it intends to close for an indefinite period its methylene di-para-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) plant at Brunsbuettel, Germany from April 1 because of poor demand. The move will help to adjust BMS's global manufacturing output to meet the needs of the market, the company says. The plant has capacity to produce 160,000 m.t./year of MDI, accounting for about 15% of BMS's global total.
