Bayer MaterialScience Invests €100 Million to Expand MDI Plant in Germany

Bayer MaterialScience plans to invest about €100 million ($137.7 million) to expand capacity for methylene di-para-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) at the Brunsbüttel industrial park in Germany. The project forms part of a previously announced phased optimization concept for Bayer's isocyanate production in Europe. The first phase involves the construction of a new toluene di-isocyanate (TDI) plant at Dormagen, Germany with an annual capacity for 300,000 m.t. by 2014.
