Bayer CropScience Acquires U.S. Seeds Company

Bayer CropScience has agreed to buy Hornbeck Seed Company Inc. (DeWitt, AK), a privately-held seeds company supplying soybean, rice, and wheat varieties in the southern U.S. market, with an inhouse soybean breeding program and proprietary soybean germplasm. Bayer CropScience will acquire the seed businesses and gain access to soybean germplasm for future variety and trait development. Financial details were not disclosed.
