BP-Indian Oil JV to Build Acetic Acid Plant in India

Indian Oil Corp. (IOC; New Delhi) says it has signed a memorandum of understanding with BP to explore the potential for establishing a 50-50 joint venture to build a 1-million m.t./year acetic acid plant in the state of Gujarat, India, together with associated gasification facilities for the production of synthesis gas. A joint feasibility study is currently underway for the project, which is expected to start up in 2015, IOC says. The proposed acetic acid plant would use BP’s Cativa XL technology and the gasification facilities would use petroleum coke...
