BASF to expand global BDO and PolyTHF capacity, including new plants in China

BASF will increase its global capacities for producing 1,4-butanediol (BDO) and for polytetramethylene ether glycol, a BDO derivative marketed under the PolyTHF name, within two years, BASF announced today. BASF’s worldwide BDO capacity will rise from 535,000 m.t./year to 650,000 m.t./year, and its PolyTHF capacity will increase from 250,000 m.t./year to 350,000 m.t./year. The size of the overall investment was not disclosed. Part of the announced capacity increase will be new BDO and PolyTHF plants to be located at Korla, China. These plants will be built...
