World News and Views :: Top of the News BASF Receives Approval for an Integrated MDI Complex in China4:11 AM MDT | March 25, 2011 | Natasha Alperowicz BASF says it has received approval from the Chinese authorities to proceed with a previously announced methylene di-para-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) complex at Chongqing, China. The 400,000 m.t./year plant will require an investment of Rmb8 billion ($1.22 billion) and will be wholly owned by BASF. Commissioning of the facillity, which will be operated by BASF Polyurethanes Chongqing Company Ltd., is scheduled for 2014. MDI is a key isocyanate used in the manufacture of polyurethanes.
