BASF says the purchase price is in the "low double-digit millions" of Euros. Merck says the business was at an early stage of commercialization. The acquisition follows BASF’s purchase in January of an equity stake in lithium-sulfur (Li-S) battery developer Scion Power (Tucson, AZ) for $50 million.
